Background information:
Ongaka Slates Enterprises cc is a stone quarrying company that concentrates on quarrying slates (slasto) and other related products. The quarrying area of 144 hectares is in the Ruacana District in the Omusati Region. The discovery of this durable building material and subsequently the quarrying of it created an opportunity of supplying new products in the building industry, mainly in the northern regions of Namibia.
Ever since Ongaka Slates Enterprises was established in the year 2000 it has so far extracted about 2.6 million tons of stones. Our quarry is abundant in slates of different colours, ranging from red-brownish, beige, dark-gray and black with different patterns and finish combinations.

We produce them in both cut and crazy shapes in a variety of thickness, in rough and smooth or natural cleft surface.

Apart from quarrying of slates Ongaka quarries is also endowed with stone suitable for construction. However, these stones need special machines to shape them into formation that can be used for massive construction.

Employment
The employees of Ongaka Slates Enterprises cc are people employed according to their expertise. In total, they are 25 including mine workers, stone layers, and two drivers.

Shareholders
Ongaka Slates Enterprises cc is a registered mining firm (Reg No. 2000/0850). The company is registered with the Registrar of Companies, Ministry of Trade and Industry, Windhoek. Currently the company is owned by two shareholders, namely; Theophilus Ekandjo 80% and Helen Ekandjo 20%.
