Stone blocks
Apart from slate stones on our quarries there are also a large amount of stones that could be used for wall construction. Of late, we tried to use hand tools to chisel rocks and turn them into brick form. The product attracted a large number of customers but since the process is too labour intensive, we could not meet the huge market’s demand, and as a result halted the exercise at list for the time being.
The strategy is to acquire a stone splitting machine. The machine is a superb piece of equipment that   if it used maximally, can produce up to (10 000) ten thousand stone bricks per day.  Stone bricks are highly sought for the construction of not only maximum safety institutions such as banks, but people with modest income throughout the country are eagerly looking for these stones to build their houses. Neighbouring Angola is also in need of brick stones as we always have some Angolan nationals visiting our plant looking for the stones. Currently, negotiations are underway with a South African stone company that intends to buy the same product from Ongaka. The main problem is the absence of a stone splitting machine.

It is against this background that I’m applying for assistance from the Ministry of Trade and Industry through its Equipment Aid Fund programme to finance a stone splitting machine for Ongaka Slate enterprises cc.

This machine, once acquired, it will drastically change not only the mood of production in terms of producing enough stone bricks in a short  period of time, but it will also directly and indirectly create a large number of employment.

Road Construction
In the year 2009, Ongaka won a tender to build three  road culverts on  the  Onanke-Omuntele gravel road. The tender, which Ongaka Slate Enterprise cc won at a cost of 1.200,000.00 was  carried out in a period of  three months. It was the first road work offered to Ongaka and with the employment of some local experts, the work was swiftly executed to the satisfaction of the engineers of the Road Authority.
